FEATURED CATCHES

From Beausoleil to Belon: The Freshest Oysters

For something so small, oysters make a big impact. The flavorful liquor; the tender meat; the rugged shells holding it all together.
They're one of our favorite shellfish—which is why we curated our selection with the utmost care.

Spanning both coasts (and even Canada), our oysters are chosen for superior quality, as well as the unique terroirs that make them so special. You can order Kumamotos from the Pacific, which offer mellow flavor and delicate creaminess. Or Peconics from Long Island, which we’ve likened to sweet, briny “wisps of silk.”
Availability rotates depending on the season. But what never changes? Our commitment to getting you the best possible oysters.
Always fresh. Never frozen. And ready to ship overnight, straight to
your door.

 The Ultimate Oyster Kit

Explore four varieties of fresh oysters—Wellfleet,
  Kumamoto, Lucky Lime, and Beausoleil—expertly
shucked and ready for you to enjoy. Mignonette,
cocktail sauce, and fresh lemons are also
  included...ready for entertaining, any time.

HOW TO SHUCK OYSTERS

Our fishmongers will gladly shuck your oysters for
you, including the shells on the side. But if you’re in
the mood to try it, it’s easy—all you need is the right
technique and proper equipment. Follow this
step-by-step guide from Citarella Owner Joe Gurrera.
You'll be a pro in no time.

1. Using an oyster knife, insert
the blade into the top part of
the shell, near the hinge,
inserting it about halfway.

2. Hold the oyster in your
hand so the nook faces toward
the tip of your pointer finger,
then twist the knife.

3. Run the blade along the top
shell, scraping it to release the
meat. Separate the shells and
serve the oyster as desired.
