Every community needs nourishment, and we’re passionate about giving back. With stores in various neighborhoods throughout New York City, the Hamptons and Connecticut, there’s a lot of good the Citarella family does.
In fact, Citarella has given to several hundred organizations—from food banks, schools, hospitals, foundations and cultural art centers.
Owner Joe Gurrera is an avid and continued supporter of many charities. Citarella has also been a long-time supporter of CityMeals-on-Wheels, which helps feed homebound elderly New Yorkers, having raised more than $600,000 since 2004. Joe's been honored by the American Cancer Society, which honored him in 2001 for his ongoing generosity, and Hospice, which honored him in 2003. Here are just some of the ways Citarella gives back:
Feeding New York’s homebound elderly
Feeding the needy and fighting food waste through charitable donations.
